Hope you had a great Resurrection Sunday!

Well, Easter has come and gone for another year. I was amazed that it was so early this year - then I found out some interesting facts about why on Jackie's (my sister-in-law) families' blog. You can check it out at http://allofusblog07.blogspot.com/2008/03/easter.html .

This is a picture of the girls and I in our Easter dresses - we have worn them before, but we wanted to look nice for such a special day!

On the Friday before Easter (Good Friday - or as they call it here - Holy Friday) we went to a little pueblo just a few minutes north of Morelia. It is called Tarímbaro. Every year they do a representation of the crucifixion. We went out of curiosity and to maybe get some good pictures for slides in the future. This is the road they decorated with flower petals where those who were representing Christ and the two thieves were to walk up the hill to be "crucified".

Mexicans are very colorful people, so it looked very pretty.

When they got to the top, they tied them to the crosses. They say that the man who was representing Christ actually had his hands nailed, but we could not see that. If he did, they probably used very small nails. It is sad that they celebrate Christ's death more than they do His resurrection! It was an interesting experience and another look at Mexican religion and culture.

Another thing they do in Tarímbaro on Good Friday is drink a lot of "pulque" which is basically a type of moonshine. They make it from some type of cactus leaves. After all the religious activities many get drunk. So sad that this is what makes up the Easter season for them.

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter and were able to rejoice in our risen Saviour! We miss everyone and hope all are doing well.

It's great to hear from you all. I had forgotten that the Mexicans celebrated Easter in that manner. May God continue to bless you all.

Hey there Ron and Jeannie. I was just looking in and thought I would say Hi. I love you all. Have a great day. Tell Andrew I said Happy Birthday (a little late) I missed the morning phone call that the girls made with mom.
